Calibration Frequency Determination
ISO/IEC and ANSI/NCSL Quality System guidelines require periodic re-certification of measurement standards. The frequency of re-certification depends on the customer determining the usage parameters for their standard(s). It is the user’s responsibility to determine the re-certification frequency based on their internal quality guidelines.
RES Calibration recommends a one-year frequency after initial calibration of a Step Height Standard. This is based on observed industry best practices and to provide the customer with sufficient time to track and monitor performance of their standard. The calibration frequency for any applicable Measurement and Test Equipment (MTE) should be based on all the conditions that the MTE will be exposed to, ie. type of MTE, environment, number of usages, etc., that the standard will be exposed to. The user can adjust calibration intervals after sufficient data has been acquired to justify the change in interval. The customer can request, in writing, a specific calibration recall frequency on their RFQ or purchase order.
For Additional information, refer to the Annex in ISO 10012-1: Guidelines for the determination of confirmation intervals for MTE.
Customer Request for Quote (RFQ) to Calibrate a Step Height Standard
To request a quote for initial calibration or recertification of a Step Height Standard(s), please complete the “Request for Quote” section at the bottom of the “Home” page. After receipt, RES Calibration will prepare a formal quote for the standard(s) requested and email it to the primary customer contact.
RES Calibration will send a “Recalibration Notice” to all customers of previously calibrated standards approximately one month prior to the calibration due date. The notice will be sent to the primary contact on record. It is the responsibility of the user to contact RES Calibration if the company or primary contact information has changed. Previous customers can also contact RES Calibration and request an RFQ for calibration services at any time. The quote will be provided and is valid for (90) days from the date prepared.
Duplicate Copy of lost or damaged Certificate of Calibration
A duplicate copy of a lost or damaged RES Calibration provided “Certificate of Calibration” will be provided by customer request up to a maximum of five years from the last calibration date of the standard. If the standard is on a one-year calibration cycle, and has not yet reached its calibration due date, a duplicate of the entire last calibration package will be provided. There will be a $50 processing charge for the replacement copy.
